Eucharistic Ministry to the Homebound

This ministry involves taking communion to a person confined to his or her home or residing in a nursing home or assisted living facility and also to parishioners who are patients at Springfield Regional Hospital.

Hospital visits are alternated among the other 2 Catholic parishes so we are responsible for one week a month. Prayers from a Communion to the Sick prayer book are said, followed by giving the Body of Christ to the sick person.  The time and day of this visit should be agreed upon by both the distributor and the home bound person.  In this ministry we remember all of our parishioners and include those who cannot attend Mass by taking Holy Communion to them. Training for this ministry would be given upon request.  Contact Deacon Norm Horstman at the parish office if you are interested in serving in this ministry.
