Good news!  The approval for the permit to start construction on the ramp and steps at St. Joseph Church has finally come in. At this moment, we do not have an exact date for construction to begin but the destruction of the ramp will happen before the end of November. Since they will be working only on the ramp at this time, the work will not affect masses at St. Joe's. It will, of course, affect anyone that cannot use the steps to enter the church. We would ask these people to attend the St. Raphael Masses until this project is completed. This will only take 2-3 weeks.  We will have announcements, emails, and posts on our website/facebook pages with the latest news regarding the construction. We are hoping the project can be completed before the snow flies!

Are you grieving the loss of someone close to you?  It helps to talk to someone who understands. Our grief support group meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 2:00-3:00 in the parish office.  Our next meeting is Tuesday, November 13.  For more information or questions, contact Lisa Lenard at 323-7523 or This email address is being protected from spambots. Grief support groups are not a substitute for grief counseling.  Rather they are a time for those who are going through the stages of grief to share with each other.

    10:00 -11:00 a.m.

The Recovery Gathering will be in the St. Joseph/St. Raphael Parish offices at 225 E High St.   The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday each month. The mission of the Recovery Gatherings is to encourage, support, and walk with those seeking to recover from addiction and mental illness and those who love them. There are many programs and people who can help with recovery but it is often hard to take the 1st step to identify and accept the problem. It is also hard to accept that recovery may be a difficult and ongoing process that does not end. That is why we need to support and encourage each other. The meeting is open to all. For more information contact Norm Horstman 323-7523, ext. 18, or email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

    Taizé Service

    November 18, 2018
    5:00 p.m.
    First Lutheran Church

Join us for this evening of peaceful music, contemplative prayer and silent reflection.

True to the ecumenical origins of the Taize tradition in France, this contemplative service is a collaboration between First Lutheran Church, High St. Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, Christ Episcopal Church, and St. Joseph/St Raphael Catholic Church as well as members of other faith communities in Springfield. An interdenominational foundation was an intentional part of the original Taize experience which, amid the conflict of World War II, sought to bring people together in a spirit of generosity and reconciliation.

The service is offered at a different location each month.  A meal will follow.

Join Deacon David Shea and Dr. Jesse Thomas as they lead an evening of prayer, reflection and renewal for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and Lectors.

    Wednesday, November 14, 2018
    7:00-9:00 p.m.
    St. Raphael Church
    225 E. High St.

    - Pray with other EMsHC and Lectors

This event is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. We want to especially encourage all of our Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors at St Joseph, St Raphael, and St Charles to attend.

To register, please call Lisa or Patty at 323-7523.
